The petition to advance Holy Comforter Martinez to Parish Status came to the 194th Convention of the Diocese of Georgia with the unanimous recommendation for approval from the Diocesan Council. That convention did unanimously pass the resolution on a first reading.

WHEREAS, the Church of the Holy Comforter did on May 17, 2015 take a vote of the mission adopting the Articles of Association as required by Canon II.1.3 with more than two thirds of the confirmed adults in good standing of the Organized Mission signing the document, and

WHEREAS, the Diocesan Council did consider the Petition to Advance the Church of the Holy Comforter Martinez to Parish Status at its meeting on May 20, 2015 at St. Paul’s, Albany, and unanimously voted to recommend the Diocesan Convention approve this Petition for its first reading at the 194th Convention of the Diocese of Georgia, and

WHEREAS, the 194th Convention of the Diocese of Georgia did give its unanimous consent a first reading of this resolution on November 14, 2015 at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah,

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that this Convention approve the second reading of the Petition to Advance the Church of the Holy Comforter Martinez to Parish Status and that the action take immediate effect so that the mission may be admitted to this convention as a parish and the Bishop name its Vicar, the Rev. Cynthia Taylor, as the first Rector of the Church of the Holy Comforter in accordance with a unanimous vote of the vestry at its October 30, 2016 meeting.
